The Lomi Lomi or "Loving Hands" massage, with roots in ancient Polynesia and Hawaii, is a traditional healing massage indended to heal the body, mind and spirit.

Lomi Lomi (also called lomilomi), which is derived from the Hawaiian word lomi, which means massage, is grounded in Hawaii’s native healing philosophy known as Huna. According to Huna, humans need and seek love and harmony. Lomi Lomi addresses these needs as the massage therapist works gently yet deeply, massaging the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes. Also employing breathwork and dance, the therapist allows the client to feel nurtured and relaxed and open to his surroundings.

Lomi Lomi combines the use of prayer (pule), breath (ha), and energy (mana) with a variety of massage strokes to release "blocked" areas of tension in the body. Lomi Lomi improves physical and athletic performance through the rhythmic application of thumbs, knuckles, forearms and elbows.

Lomi Lomi relaxes the nervous system, increases circulation and creates a tangible sense of well being. It is useful for maintaining health, and relieving pain from injury and debilitating illness. It is the "dance of massage," and is as wonderful to give as to receive.

Muscle Release TechniqueSM

The Muscle Release TechniqueSM is a unique injury therapy that combines compression, extension, movement, and breath to give the therapist a tool to provide, in many cases, relief from pain in one treatment. With the Muscle Release TechniqueSM scar tissue is broken up, the muscle is lengthened, muscle memory is restored and relief from pain starts immediately.

Appointment Policy

Dear Clients:

Keeping appointments is important to you and to all of us. We sincerely hope that you will be able to keep your appointment time as we have scheduled it.

At those times when you must make a change, please be aware of the following policy. We appreciate your consideration.

Cancellation

If you need to cancel your appointment or reschedule your appointment for another time, please call at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time. For all appointments canceled with less than a 24 hour notice, a $25.00 fee will be charged.

Late Arrival

If you must arrive late, your appointment time will be shortened by that amount of time and you will be charged the same for a full appointment. Being on time assures you your full time for our work together.

Because this process is complete only when the client feels complete, it is important that each client is given the time and respect to complete his or her session without being rushed through. I schedule all appointments so there is time set aside for clients extending past their scheduled allotted time. If I am late to your session because of a previous client, please be patient. You will always be given the same respect during our time together.

Thank you very much for your cooperation and understanding.

How To Receive a Massage

Posted on Aug 25th, 2008 by Inner-Harmony : Massage Therapy and Bodywork Inner-Harmony

How to Receive a Massage

Massage is most fully experienced without clothing; however, if you feel any discomfort with this, you may leave your underwear on. You will be covered completely with a sheet, and only the area that is being worked will be uncovered.

You may feel the need to burp or have flatulence (gas) during the massage. Natural bodily functions can be stimulated by massage and there is not need for embarrassment. Please relax as completely as possible. If you need to go the restroom during the massage, please inform your therapist.

Sometimes men can experience erections and some women become aroused as a normal physiological response to touch. So long as the client’s intention and behavior in receiving massage is non-sexual, there is no concern should you experience an erection or aroused state. If you need the therapist to stop the massage for you to gain composure, please share your concerns.

All massages are non-sexual, meaning that the genitals will not be touched or uncovered. If a client touches the therapist, exposes themselves, makes rude sexual remarks, makes advances at the therapist, or has a sexual intention, the massage will be terminated immediately. YOU will be responsible for the price of the massage.

Thank you.

What Is A Massage Like?

Posted on Aug 25th, 2008 by Inner-Harmony : Massage Therapy and Bodywork Inner-Harmony

      What Is A Massage Like?

1.  First you will be given a health history questionnaire. This is to inform your Therapist about any potential health risks.

2.  Along with this, you will be given a page explaining the body’s natural reactions while getting a massage, and the boundaries of receiving therapeutic massage.

3.  Next, your Therapist will talk with you about how you are feeling, physically, and mentally. Your Therapist will also talk with you about any concerns you may have.

4.  Your Therapist will then ask you to get undressed and under the sheet. Your Therapist will leave the room while you undress. Undress to YOUR comfort level.

5.  When your Therapist re-enters the room, he or she will begin the massage. Each massage is tailored to your individual needs. At all times during the massage, you will remain under the sheet with only the part of the body being worked on uncovered, and your genitals will always be covered.

6.  After the massage is finished, your Therapist will leave the room and allow you to get dressed.

7.  After you are dressed, you and your Therapist may choose to talk about the massage and make another appointment.

8.  Be sure to drink plenty of water after your massage.
